Seawall Ride

Went for a ride with Harrison Boyce and Travis Collier around the Seawall path today. The blistering cold really got to our fingertips and toes but the scene was beautiful and it was fun regardless.

Two months ago, a video of Nosaj Thing’s visual collaboration with Julia Tsao and Adam Guzman tore across the internet blowing minds everywhere. (I watched it a few times a day at one point). After seeing it, Kenny Mac at Red Bull knew he had to act on an idea for a visual show that had been cooking in his brain for a while. Soon after - Red Bull Megahurtz was born.
October 1st saw the event play out at Studio Juste Pour Rire during the Pop Montreal music festival with Nosaj Thing and a stacked line-up of Canada’s finest talent - Megasoid, Grahmzilla, Neighbour, Jelo, Barletta, Hovatron, Lunice, and GreenMachine.
This photo series documents a video shoot the night before to the set-up at location and the event itself. My Man Henri said it best, describing (well, correctly predicting) it to be “a scintillating audio visual spectacle of lavish lights that would give Jerry Jones’ new Texas Stadium’s Jumbotron pixel envy.” The night was bonkers and everyone killed it, definitely a banger show. I hope you enjoi the pictures.

Blueprint ended off their 12-year anniversary with Calvin Harris playing to a sold-out Sunday crowd in Vancouver.

For the month of September, Red Bull brought in Vancouver-based artist Cedric Bomford to construct an installation at the Red Bull 381 Projects gallery space in Toronto. But I wouldn’t really call it an installation as much as a total, incredible transformation of the space. I’m a big fan.
Vancouver peeps would recognize Cedric’s work from the How Soon is Now exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery earlier this year. So hit that jump and check out the newest work from this Emily Carr and recent Malmö Konsthogskolan graduate who is definitely on the come up.

Blueprint turned 12; and they brought in MSTRKRFT and Steve Aoki to celebrate at the Commodore. Hit that juuump to see them pics

yea i gots a ihardlyknowher account too. flickr just took on a new life.
If you set one up, send me yours!!

In the summer of 2007, I had the opportunity and honour to photograph British graf legend SheOne during his visit to Vancouver with Addict Clothing.
While compiling this recent post on WeMineDeeper, I got curious about the series from his visit two years ago and decided to upload those photos here. Was going to re-edit a few of them, but thought it more interesting to leave them be (a bit like pixel time capsules maybe?).
Oo and for those wondering, the space above is The Modern in Vancouver as it was being constructed.

Back from the road/air for a couple weeks! Phew. Pictures from the Macneil BMX tour soon.
For now, here are photos from Canadian band Fritz Helder & The Phantoms performing at the Red Bull 381 Projects gallery space in Toronto last month. Fritz are a glamrock band who are the first signing to Nelly Furtado’s new label Nelstar.
The photos document the band’s rehearsal, their backstage preparations before the show, and their performance.
Really enjoy shooting backstage, so having the light and haze to work with was a treat.

Sorry for the lack of updates, swamped with work. In about 2 hours I will be leaving on a Toronto/Montreal/Ottawa trip with Macneil Bikes, and the night after returning from that I will be leaving again to attend meetings in LA for a couple days. Hopefully will have time to feed this blog though!
As for this blog post - these are photos from a shoot for Red Bull in Toronto. Every time someone asks how the trip went, my only response is “took photos of a plane from a helicopter” because I really can’t think of any other way to say it. Hopefully these photos will provide a visual explanation.
