London Snaps

Hello again!!!
Sorreh for not updating in a long time. Have been real busy shooting tons and moving houses. Will get round to posting backlogged photos soon. There’s a bunch of stuff that hasn’t been edited, so expect some new shots in those blog posts too.
PS: If for now you would like to see a selection of images from the Flying Lotus tour, hit up this post on booooooom. Many thanks to Jeff for that! Also, My Man Henri posted up a comprehensive journal of the tour with my photos which you can check out here.
Anyway, I’m currently in the UK where I’ll be situated for the next month. Here are some photos from my first couple days in London, all taken on a newly acquired Canon SD780 point and shoot which is an amazing little camera. I recommend it highly.
Click on a picture if you want to see it bigger (only really applies to the horizontal ones).
Day One
point and shoot lens = fun with lens flare
these shots are lame, but they’re so fun to do
SITE TRANCE. This was taken when I walked in the wrong direction for 25 minutes whilst looking for the hostel called Clink, which is a dope spot actually. It’s an old building that was converted into a hostel. Currently typing out this blog post in a courtroom where Charles Dickens was a scribe and The Clash went on trial. I am sitting in the PROBATION OFFICER’s seat.

What happens when you mount multiple spray cans on the side of a bike and get them to trigger while riding past a van? This.

Was stoked to see the new Smirnoff billboard ads by wonder photography team Jeremy and Claire Weiss.
and after a tour of brick lane courtesy of James, we headed towards….
Dragon bar. On the left is Will from Stem Agency. This was a really good conversation, learnt a ton. Much thanks to Will and James for the wise advice. Will’s definitely been in the photo industry game for a while, he knows the workings inside out.
Grey blends.
There’s lots of talk about famed photographer Ian Rankin’s new project - Rankin Live
James’ girl Rachel joined us later in the evening and much fun was had. Food there was good too. After a few half-pints of Guinness (I’m half asian, can only half drink), made my way back to hostel to have a few nightmares, one of which included a very creepy leprechaun that showed up in a photo I took in my dream (but it wasn’t visible in my dream when the photo was being taken. It only showed up on the camera screen after the photo was taken). Seriously, it was terrifying. Guinness + a warm room can do amazing things to you.
Day Two
10am = too early to enter the Photographers’ Gallery, so I went to Uniqlo and bought a pair of super comfortable olive-coloured jeans for 10 pounds. Why do we not have a Uniqlo branch in Vancouver? We. must. have. one.
Once the Photographers’ Gallery opened, I raided their bookstore for Beyond the Lens at Will’s advice. It’s a great book by the Association of Photographers about the rights and business practices of photography. About time I started to dial in that shit.. Some people have been doing shady stuff to my work as of late… Not cool…
Across the road from the gallery. There are some really nice vintage bikes here.
Can’t remember which station this is, but it’s a nice lookin’ one
Can’t remember which station this was either. It’s a miracle I get anywhere.
Make poster please

Had a few hours free, so I took the opportunity to visit the Tate Modern for the first time. Futurism futurama
Almost impossible to make the inside space look bad. What a beautiful area.
This was the first time I’ve seen Meredith Frampton’s work in real life. His work is incredible…. Absolutely gorgeous.

Paul McCarthy’s projection room. I thought this was easily one of the stand-outs of the entire gallery. Sat in this room for a good while.

That’s it for now.
