Beautiful French Canada featuring a club with a lighting system from Mars

okokok. Before going on, there is a shout-out I have to make. That picture above is monumental because it was taken the day Congee Noodle House re-opened between legs 2 and 3 of the tour. This is an incredibly important event in the history of Vancouver and I just wanted to honour it. Moving on…

Quebec City

After almost dying on black ice, twice, I arrived at the Vancouver airport in one piece to discover my flight canceled because of some freak weather pattern. Some frantic re-booking later I nabbed the last seat on the only plane that would get me to QC in time for the show. Phew.

LOOK. AT. THAT! Dagobert had an unbelievable exterior. But there was more to this club than just a pretty face…

It was gorgeous on the inside too. That is the house lighting system, and I swear it was from space. The lights raised and lowered on command via suspension system, sometimes hanging as low as a few feet from the crowd’s heads. I went insane with the camera - must’ve broken shutter actuation records.

Darryl freaking out on stage while I freaked out on a mirror

Small Town DJs. Big ups to them, always a fun time when these guys are on the decks.

Nerve on the ones and twos. For the tech geeks: this photo was taken with a 12mm lens on a full frame Nikon D700 while I was lying flat on the ground. WIDE. Slipmat took the night’s win, and playing the night away was…

Post-show poutine gorging. This was so good. Craving so hard right now. Arrghh

There was a clown at the show. He was definitely the center of our attention, and he definitely got tired of it pretty quick.

Halifax

Because of a gust of wind that left behind an assortment of over-turned trailers on a Quebec highway, we were put through much travel-related pain and suffering, but prevailed and headed north in the end (thanks Bailey @ RB!).

I’m glad there was only one of these maple cone things in the car, because if there were more, I would’ve died of sugar overdose.

View from the hotel window. coollldd…

Chef Hynes participating in his self-inflicted pre-show anger relief course

The Plaza, aka The Last Chance fo…. Halifax locals know what I’m talking about haha. Halifax definitely knows how to party, this place went off.

Double A raising his hat to an appreciative crowd. Imagine if your school teacher was also a DJ. Damn. AA managed second, as it was Cosmo who took the win in Halifax.

Michael Grimes of Small Town DJs.

After the show we hit up KOD - King Of Donair. Apparently it’s a rite of passage in Halifax. If by rite of passage they mean it causes heartburn in artery passage ways, then yes, we successfully completed our rite of passage.

Montreal

Always stay stylish.

The bagels jumpoff! This spot was flabbergasting amazing. Montreal did not disappoint. Good food. Hot girls. Great weather. Dope fashion. Hot girls.

A-Rock in one of those incredibly rare moments where he’s not making a face.

He stole the show, really. His set was the epitome of fun and left everyone breathless and tired from raving about so hard.

That jacket glows in the dark with these little light-up tubes he had wired into the leather. I think that alone deserves first place in any competiton. And if one day he’s done DJing, he could make jackets for a living, or take part in crochet competitions. Crochet 3style coming up next: three types of wool in fifteen minutes SMASH IT

The Telus Theatre

Small Town DJs = Girls dancing on the speakers, every time

A-Rock won, concluding with a bang the tenth and final heat of Red Bull 3Style 2009

Linus of JOTS just a few hours before saving my life. The story, which I won’t recount, has got something to do with that bottle of whiskey spinning about on the turntable right there. Blrugh.
